East Tennessee experienced some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen in several years during late January and early February. When temperatures drop, natural gas usage increases. Because heating demand was significantly higher, many customers are seeing an increase in their monthly bills.

We understand that higher winter bills can be difficult. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact our office. We are happy to talk through options and share information about available energy assistance programs. PCUD works with local community agencies and charitable organizations that provide utility bill assistance.

To help manage seasonal fluctuations, PCUD also offers a free Budget Billing Program. This program averages your usage over time to provide more consistent monthly payments throughout the year. Enrollment is open now through April 1, 2026.
