Powell-Clinch Utility District (PCUD) has named the PCUD Natural Gas Diversified Station – Viles Lateral in recognition of Neal Viles, who retired in May 2025 after 45 years of service with the utility.

Neal began his career at PCUD in the field and advanced through multiple roles over the years. He served as Construction Manager until June 2023, overseeing major natural gas construction projects, and later as Special Projects Manager until his retirement.

During his tenure, Neal was responsible for managing numerous natural gas expansion projects. As Special Projects Manager he and his team completed several steel pipeline installations, including the primary Diversified Station project that connected PCUD to local natural gas production. That project improved system reliability and expanded long-term supply options for PCUD customers.

PCUD President Rob Neil commented, “Neal played a key role in the growth of our natural gas system over several decades. Naming this station after him recognizes the experience and leadership he brought to many important projects.”

The Viles Lateral Station supports PCUD’s natural gas infrastructure and reflects Neal’s long involvement in the construction and development of the system.

PCUD thanks Neal for his years of service and contributions to the district and its customers.
